I am looking to start a bell ringing club at my junior school. I guess a small set of 12 or 15 bells would be best to start with. Does anyone have, or know of anyone who may have, a set of handbells to purchase or hire at a reasonably affordable price. I am the music co-ordinator for the school and have some of experience with handbells. My school is an inner city junior school and does not have a lot of money. I figured this would be a great opportunity to improve the musical life of the school and community, and would be a great step towards introducing the fabulous art of bell ringing to young people.

Can anyone help?

Yes I live in Winchester but my school is based in Southampton. Can you help at all?

Have you considered belleplates? They are very much cheaper than handbells and work the same way.

Details are on www.belleplates.com.

I'm afraid Southampton is rather a long way from my base in Leeds. Have you contacted the HRGB Secretary (Sandra@hrgb.org.uk); she is sometimes aware of sets of bells which are available or on the market. Roger

The south west have just purchased a second-hand 3 chromatic octave of belleplates.

please contact robert@hrgb.org.uk if you would like to borrow them.
